Designed by Ned Steinberger, the NS Design CR Series Electric Cello combines the familiar feel and expressive tone of an acoustic cello with the creative possibilities of an advanced electric instrument.

Available with four, five or six strings, the CR Series can produce delicate, precise acoustic-style tones or explore bold new sonic territory. Its innovative Polar™ piezo pickup system responds to the direction of string vibration, providing exceptional tone-shaping possibilities for bowed and plucked playing.

Familiar Feel, Expanded Possibilities

A standard cello scale length and compatibility with traditional cello strings provide a comfortable starting point for experienced cellists. From there, the CR Series offers the dynamic response and tonal versatility needed for classical performance, contemporary music, effects processing and experimental sound.

Interchangeable Support Options

The NS Cello is compatible with several support systems for different playing styles:

  • Adjustable Tripod Stand: Suitable for seated or standing performance
  • Boomerang Strap System: Provides mobility and freedom of movement
  • Frame Strap System: Supports mobile stage performance
  • Cello End Pin Stand: Recreates traditional cello contact points and positioning
